The Rockaway Beach Half Marathon marked my first step into longer-distance racing and was a major confidence booster early in my endurance journey. It was my first half marathon, and breaking the two-hour mark showed me that with consistency and smart training, ambitious goals were within reach. Racing along the coast, I learned how to manage pacing over a longer effort and stay composed when fatigue set in, skills that would carry over into every race that followed.
More importantly, that race shifted my mindset. Finishing strong confirmed that endurance racing was something I wanted to continue pursuing, not just casually but with intention. The Rockaway Beach Half Marathon gave me the belief to sign up for bigger challenges and laid the groundwork for my progression into marathons, triathlons, and long-term endurance training.
