Cape Cod Marathon
The Cape Cod Marathon was a meaningful test of adaptability and execution. Coming off an intensive Ironman 70.3 training block, I transitioned quickly into marathon preparation with the goal of breaking four hours. On race day, I ran a 3:57 marathon, successfully achieving my sub-4 goal and proving that smart adjustments and disciplined pacing can carry fitness across different race formats.
That experience taught me invaluable lessons about quick turnover racing: how to manage fatigue, adjust training priorities, and trust accumulated fitness rather than chasing perfection. Racing the Cape Cod Marathon reinforced the importance of flexibility in training and preparation, especially when balancing multiple endurance goals in a short time frame. Those lessons now directly shape how I approach both my own racing and the way I coach athletes through packed race calendars and demanding transitions.
